Yesterday was a busy day in the backyard putting some of the garden beds in.
Unfortunately my brilliant maths mind was unable to calculate how much soil & mulch we needed so of course ..... I fell short!! D'oh. Due to Sarah's birthday completely wiping me out of cash, unfortunately I couldn't order more to finish. Oh well .. there's always next pay :-))
I would have been VERY happy if it was finished, but at this stage I'm just mildly pleased with how it is looking. EXACTLY as I wanted it to :-)

Wow! It looks fantastic! Well done (clapping hands). Paving strip up past meals window looks great.
You must be very pleased with the end result even if it's not quite finished. I think you've done a great job.
Can you tell me what plants you have planted please.
I know what you mean about cash our pool installation ended up costing us quite a few thousand more (sob sob) and now we need to buy pavers. Everytime I look at pavers I think of you! Did you ever go the Slate Discounts at Doveton for a look? I was browsing their website last night.
Yeah I was disappointed I couldn't finish but now that the little bit is done, I can see how it's going to look which always helps.
Pavers .. I went EVERYWHERE!! And only the one place had the ones I really liked. Didn't think I'd ever be so fussy about pavers but we got there in the end. The plan is to have the bigger patio area (where the BBQ is) done by christmas and then I think it will look really good.
Pool - well, I hear you on that one. As a kid we always had pools or moved house and put them in and I remember the budget always blowing out. A few friends at work are also building and putting in pools and the budget on 1 has changed 3 or 4 times (going up each time of course!!!).
OK plants. The small part of the path (on the way to BBQ area) has Hebe Inspiration on either side of the path. Magnolia (obviously) as the feature tree and the tree in the corner ... can't remember the name but it will grow to about 3m.
In the 'square' area outside the lounge room windows. Gardenia's in the front and Cordyline Apple Blossom at the back.
Great Pics Spunk, I have just had my update on the McG world of the past month - great job on the garden beds and YOU are looking fantastic, great shots of Sarah and the Ho! Speak soon, FOX
Thanks for the plant info. We finally decided on ours - nothing too exciting but at least it's a start. Photos are on my blog if you'd like to look.
Pavers....hmmm, I don't think I'm too fussy over them. They are a bit like bricks to me, take it or leave it :-) I would love a charcoal colour but think they would retain too much heat for the kids feet in summer so will go lighter. Saw some at Aumanns on Saturday which might be okay.
Love Gardenia's! Love the fragrance.
Keeping your surrounding and house clean is the best stress buster is what you can do. I am planing to clean my pool can some one suggest some tips and solutions to be used to clean it.
